Kuantan, Malaysia โ During the 48th High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration (HLTF-EI) held on 4โ5 August 2025, Timor-Leste reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to ASEAN economic integration and its readiness to become the 11th ASEAN Member State by the 47th ASEAN Summit in October 2025.
Represented by Mr. Nelito Lima De Araujo on behalf of Timor-Lesteโs HLTF-EI Lead H.E. Augusto Jรบnior Trindade, Timor-Leste expressed strong support for Malaysiaโs 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship and key regional initiatives including the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) and the ASEAN Single Investment Gateway (ASIG).
Prior to the official meeting, HLTF-EI Leads, including Timor-Lesteโs delegation, joined a cultural and networking excursion to the scenic Sungai Lembing, reflecting ASEANโs spirit of unity and collaboration.
