H.E. AUGUSTO JÚNIOR TRINDADE, Currently Vice Minister of Commerce and Industry, was a political activist and member of the National Resistance of East Timorese Students (RENETIL) organization.
In 1993 – 1999, he led the IMPETTU organization in East Java province, Indonesia, where he played an important role in mobilizing East Timorese students to participate in the referendum for East Timorese independence. His role as one of the demonstrators in the occupation of the Indonesian Ministry of  Foreign Affairs premises in Jakarta by East Timorese students in 1998 also stands out.
After President B.J. Habibie’s decree on options for the future of East Timor, H.E. AUGUSTO JÚNIOR TRINDADE and other fellow students decided to return to East Timor to organize the “Ukun Rasik Aan” referendum for national independence, where he was one of the members of the CPCC, actively involved in activities to mobilize people for the referendum in the regions of Oecusse, Bobonaro, Ermera and Liquiça.
In 1999 – 2000, he was Chief Negotiator where he led the negotiations with UNTAET to facilitate Timorese students to continue their studies in Indonesia and later, he assumed the position of Head of the National Organization for Democracy and Peace, promoting programs for conflict resolution, democracy, peace and reconciliation.
In 2000-2006, he was one of the initiators of the establishment and formation of the Democratic Party (Partido PD ). He also served as Manager for Microfinance Affairs at the international organization Christian Children Found, and held the same position at AMCAP (Ainaro, Mantuto, Covalima activation program).
In the first term of His Excellency the President of the Republic José Ramos-Horta in 2007-2012, H.E. AUGUSTO JÚNIOR TRINDADE took over the position as the Advisor for the fight against poverty and conflict prevention, and carried out the program of His Excellency the President of the Republic José Ramos-Horta in the creation of Dili City of Peace in Palacio da Cinzas Caicoli, Dili.
In 2012-2017, during the fifth term of the Constitutional Government, H.E. AUGUSTO JÚNIOR TRINDADE served as the advisor for industrial and cooperative affairs to the Secretary of State for Industry and Cooperatives. H.E. Mr. Filipus Nino Pereira, In the same year, he also served as the advisor to the Minister of Social Affairs and the Minister of Education on the monitoring and supervision of the school meals program.
And in 2018-2021 he served the President of National Logistics Center (CLN).
In the second term of His Excellency President of the Republic José Ramos-Horta, in 2022. H.E. AUGUSTO JÚNIOR TRINDADE served as the advisor for strategic issues related to the development of the coffee industry in Timor-Leste.
