Dili, July 19, 2025 – The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Nino Pereira, was the keynote speaker at the national seminar and exhibition with the theme “Building a Strong Business Base, with the aim of increasing and improving knowledge and skills in Entrepreneurship,” organized by the Department of Economics and Accounting of the Faculty of Education Sciences at the hall of the Instituto Superior Cristal (ISC).

💡🧠 During this activity, Minister Nino Pereira presented on: The Influence of Commerce and Industry on the Economy of Timor-Leste, the impact and crucial role they play in the economic development of Timor-Leste, a country that, since its independence, has been seeking to diversify its economy and reduce its dependence on the petroleum sector.

To maximize this positive impact, it is important for the government to implement public policies that encourage entrepreneurship, improve logistical infrastructure, promote technical training for the local workforce, create strategic partnerships with foreign investors, and facilitate access to international markets to increase the competitiveness of Timorese companies.

Another topic presented during this activity by Speaker II was: How to Develop a Business Activity Plan, presented by the Executive Director of IADE, Mr. Filemeno Marcelino Bello. Speaker III presented on Challenges and Opportunities for the Economic Growth of Timor-Leste in ASEAN Integration, delivered by ISC representative Mr. Azevedo Marchal.

This national seminar and exhibition were attended by VPM-MCAS and MDRAC, Acting Prime Minister Mr. Mariano Assanami Sabino, President of the ISC Foundation, ISC Director, Speakers I, II, and III, invited guests, and students.
