The Vice-Minister emphasized that this initiative was promoted by the President of the Republic to support vulnerable communities, identified in advance by local authorities in Zumalai and Covalima.

โ€œThe decision to provide this aid was based on data from local authorities. This is why His Excellency, the President of the Republic, spent almost a week in Covalima, visiting various locations, engaging with authorities, parents, and students, listening directly to their needs, and identifying ways in which the government and the state can help them overcome their challenges,โ€ stated the Vice-Minister.

Throughout his stay in Covalima, the President of the Republic met with local authorities, community leaders, parents, students, and civil society representatives to hear their concerns.

โ€œThe President of the Republic is always attentive to the difficulties faced by the people. That is why he made a point of visiting Covalima, witnessing firsthand the communityโ€™s reality, and conveying to the IX Government, led by brother Kay Rala Xanana Gusmรฃo, the urgent need to find concrete solutions to improve the populationโ€™s living conditions,โ€ added the Vice-Minister.

During the visit, essential goods were distributed to vulnerable families, following the assessments made by local authorities.

The event was attended by the Presidential Advisor and his team, the President of the Covalima Municipal Authority, the Commander of the PNTL in the municipality, and local authorities in Zumalai.
